Night Time Fun...The other night John and I took the kids down to the beach after dinner to run around. They had fun climbing up the life guard sand hill to sit in the lifeguard chair and of course, races up and down the beach. Then we went for ice cream and home for baths. Lots of fun!

Free Car...Home Sweet Home...Ha! John and I went to a "tea" party at our neighbor, Ronni's, house last night. We had a blast. We were planning on staying for an hour since we had to go pick up the free car in Port Washington and go out to dinner. We were the youngest people there by a good 20-30 years but we had a ball. We wound up being there for 2 1/2 hours. Some people dressed up in costume for what they considered a "Long Island Tea Party". One man is running for city council (as a republican...) and John suggested his sloggan contain the words "More Poop Boxes" to help with the poop on side walks. Ha! Everyone got a hoot out of that. Another lady, Lois, was originally from MacPhearson, KS but she sound liked she was from Fargo. Several of the men were veterans so they all got to talk about which bases they had been based at. Anyway, it was a lot of nice people mingled with "long island ice tea" in cups and saucers, finger sandwiches and appetizers.

Then, we headed out to Port Washington to pick up the car. Had a nice visit with Linda and Jimmy. Super great people! I'll look forward to seeing them at church. John got the car tagged today at DMV. Only $135 for a two year tag. Cheap compared to OK!

Needless to say we never made it to dinner last night. Thank goodness for finger sandwiches and appetizers. They were actually the best egg salad sandwiches since I have been in NY. But we had a ball and worth every minute! John and I may really fit in better with the 55+ crowd...ha!

Multicultural Day...Had a great afternoon. John took care of the kids while I took a 40 minute bike ride and went to a lecture at our Long Beach Public Library on the Alsace/Lorraine region of France. It was a really interesting talk and had great slides from the whole area. It was just beautiful and a lot of the transportation is on the barge system. This area of France has had it's borders moved 5 times and has gone back and forth being a part of France or Germany. The architecture has both German and French influences. You ought to look it up online. I learned a lot.
Free Car...Some of you may know that we have been looking to get rid of our subaru and get a used minivan. But we were also trying to figure out a way to buy a second used car so John would have an airport car to get to and from work when I needed the car. Especially once school starts and I am driving Julia to school everyday. But so far we hadn't found a way to afford it. Well, out of the blue on Monday, Eric, the administrator at our church called to see if we would be interested in a free car. What do you mean free?!?! Just that...a lady from our church had gotten a new car and didn't want to mess with selling her old car so she just wanted to find someone who could use it. She is GIVING it away free! I have never heard of such a thing let alone been the recipient. WOW! It is a '97 Pontiac Grand Am with 88,000 miles that is in good mechanical shape. We pick it up on Thursday. WOW! God is good! Talk about an answered prayer.

A Little Indoor Fun...We had some fun playing indoors on Friday morning. Julia really has quite the imagination and it is so funny to hear her talk to all the characters and see what she has them say. She had a big adventure with Scooby and Shaggy chasing monsters and bad guys.

Jacob and Julia have been playing with this box for about a week now. It is a tank, a race car, a house, a hideout, etc. Amazing how simple it is to have fun with a box. Ha!

Slippin' and Sliden' at the Neighbor Block Party...Jacob and John went down to the block party on Minnesota Ave. today. John was invited by a captain he has flown with. They had all kinds of kids bouncing and water games. He had a ball!

Cotton Candy is good! Julia not only ate hers but wanted the rest of her brother's, too.

Really good doo-wop band at the block party.

Julia at the Bay Park...John took the kids down to the Bay Park last night to ride bikes and play.
