Week in Review...We had a wonderful, relaxing Memorial Day weekend. On Monday, John and Jacob ventured to the Rangers v. Yankees game. He was definitely feeling torn loyalties due to our last place of residence. Ha! On Tuesday, The Littlefield Family came down for the 2nd Rangers v. Yankees game and to tour the TX Motor Speedway. They had a blast (other than the rain delays) and Patrick got to come hang out at our house with Julia and Jacob for the day. On to Wednesday...I substitute taught 3rd grade and then went to Zumba class that night. Loving Zumba! As far as the substitute teaching, I have really enjoyed doing it this year but you can tell the kids are already checked out for summer vacation...they were nuts!

Friday was Jacob's school Field Day and End of Year Class Party! Woo hoo! The exciting party was that the 2nd grade won the box top contest so they got the mega party outside complete with 3 bouncy houses, 2 bouncy water slides, watermelon races, ice pops, etc. I worked Bouncy House #2 and the kids wore themselves out having such a great time.

Yesterday was Logan Bryant's birthday party at Main Event in Grapevine. He is in Jacob's class at school. This was probably one of the most fun parties. It was on a Saturday morning so the place wasn't very crowded. It had very cool games. Julia particularly enjoyed the simulated roller coaster ride...TWICE! Weeeeeee! They also got to enjoy 30 minutes of laser tag, pizza, cake, etc. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun bday party location. They have laser tag, pool tables, bowling, video games, etc. And the video game cards actually work (unlike Incredible Pizza where you constantly have to get an employee to help you). Very fun morning!

Memorial Weekend, Day 1...Yesterday was opening day of our YMCA and neighborhood pools. Woo hoo! So, in the morning I took Jacob and Julia to the Y for swim class evaluation and then we stayed to do so open swim time at the new pool. Just as we were thinking of leaving, the Y staff announced free hotdogs, chips and drinks so we stayed for that and then swam a little more. Finally we went home to cool off, get some stuff done, and let Julia nap. Then we headed off to the neighborhood pool for more swimming fun. Poor John had to stay home fixing the kitchen sink and then treated us to pizza for dinner. Not a bad first day for a 3 day weekend. If the weather clears up a little more today, we go back to the pool after church. Feels like summer!

Faster, Faster...Seems like each day is just a whirlwind right now and very busy as we finish out the school year. Wednesday, Julia graduated from Pre-K and had her school program. We were so proud and quite tearful that our baby girl is growing up so fast. But she is excited about kindergarten and had kindergarten orientation on Tuesday. Right now, I am not sure if she is more excited out summer or kindergarten...ha!

Yesterday was my first PTA function as the new Health/Safety Lead for next school year. Woo hoo...what have I got myself into? Today I am working the book fair at Jacob's school and helping out for the Staff Appreciation Luncheon so it looks like another busy today.

It has been so nice to see sunshine all week and have gotten a lot of outdoor planting done with flowers, flowerbeds, and got my tomatoes, cucumbers, cilantro, and basil planted in pots. Looking forward to some yummy summer treats!

Have a wonderful Memorial Weekend! Be safe!

Pretty Girl...inside and out.

No More Training Wheels...Yesterday was a great day! The sun was shining, we went to church, we planted flowers in the flowerbeds, and Miss Julia Grace learned to ride her bike without training wheels! She did great and caught on very quickly. Now we just practice, practice, practice. She is so excited and feels like such a big girl. It will be so much easier to go on family bike rides this summer. Yea!

Soccer Awards...Yesterday we went to the kid's soccer awards ceremony. They both received their first trophies. They were so excited and we were SO proud of what they had accomplished not just on the field but in some of life's lessons of good sportsmanship, perseverance, compassion, etc. This mom got a little teary eyed as her kiddos showed her their trophies with such pride and delight. My babies are growing up. Jacob definitely wants to play soccer again next fall. We'll see what Julia is into as the summer progresses. Good job!

Busy Week...We've had a busy but very productive week around here. I substituted on Tues and Wed which was fun especially since Tuesday was at Jacob's school and I was right next door to him in another 2nd grade class. I also got a chance to try out the Zumba aerobics class at our local YMCA on Wednesday night. It was VERY fun and VERY hard work. The music was awesome!

Thursday brought a plethora of playdates...Julia and I hung out with her friend, Myles, at the local McD's since it was raining. The only downside to that adventure was that Julia took off her socks and when they could not be found, I went on a search myself through the tube tunnels at McD's since I really did not want her sockless. Bad idea! There is a reason parents don't go in there...the tunnels really are too small for adults, the hard plastic hurt my knees, and last but not least...oh my goodness...it stinks like smelly feet in there! Whoa! Forget the lost socks! But low and behold, it looks like another child accidentally (I'm giving the benefit of the doubt here) took Julia's socks and left there older ones in the corner of a bubble play area. Thursday afternoon was another kid extravaganza as we had 2 different sets of neighborhood kids over to play at our house while their parents had other stuff going on. It all went great and the kids were so good but it sure was busy;)

Last night we had the Spring Block Party at Jacob's school. It was very fun! Radio Disney was there, there were 2 bouncy houses, food/snacks, a dunk tank where Jacob tried to dunk the asst principal, and a raffle with really cool prizes. Unfortunately, we didn't win anything but we had a great time.

This morning we were supposed to have the last soccer games of the season but are rained out. All we have now is the Awards later today and then Julia has a birthday party to go to at her friend, Ellie's, house from school. Then, I plan on sitting in one place for at least a couple of hours...ha!

Glamour Girl...Here is a few recent pics of the Glamour Girl (aka Julia) taken by Daddy. She has really gotten into wearing make-up. We are picking our battles about wear/when since she likes to look pretty and dress up. She is WAY more girly that I ever was! Of course, I used to sing "Delta Dawn" to anyone who would listen on my grandparents fireplace hearth...go figure! Poor girl, between her dad and I, she has some pretty dramatic/hilarious genes!

Texas Rangers Game...John and Jacob went to the TX Rangers baseball game last night. This was Jacob's first Rangers game. He was excited and all decked out in his Rangers hat and t-shirt. They studied the players, ate cotton candy and cracker jacks, etc. What more could you ask for?!? Good times!

While they were at the game, Julia and I had what she labeled as "Sweet and Sassy" night. Guess which one she is?!?!? Ha! This entailed her choice for dinner, soaking her feeting in the foot spa, having her finger and toe nails painted alternating colors of pink/red, and having lotion put on her feet right before bed. Not a bad deal, eh?!?

Fort Builders...Well, John and Jacob broke ground this week on Jacob's new fort. They are building it in our side yard. Jacob had his first time at post hole digging...he did GREAT! He is so strong and he was digging into had clay with no problem. I'll post the finished project when it is done. He is so excited and it is really fun for he and John to be able to work on it together.
